Method of preparation

Start by cutting the onion and carrots into small pieces or cubes and place them in a frying pan for sautéing. Cook over high heat, but be careful not to let anything burn; stir constantly

Next, you need to slice the cabbage, also into cubes, and add it to the onions and carrots. Continue sautéing over high heat, stirring constantly. When the cabbage starts to turn golden, reduce the heat and let it simmer until it’s cooked, season with salt and pepper to taste. You can also use parsley and basil for extra flavor – this combination will add a delightful twist to the dish

Preheat the oven to a temperature no higher than 180–190 degrees Celsius. While the oven is heating up, focus on preparing the dough. You can leave the cabbage mixture in the frying pan

Begin by sifting the flour and mixing it with baking soda. Separately, beat the eggs and gradually add sugar, salt, and a pinch of spices. Now, take the kefir – it should not be too cold, so it’s best to take it out of the refrigerator in advance. Mix 200 ml of kefir with the eggs and flour mixture, then add the remaining kefir and melted butter. Gently combine everything and knead the dough

Take a baking dish, grease it with butter, and pour most of the dough onto the bottom. Then carefully spread the cabbage filling over it and pour the remaining dough on top. Place it in the oven for 40 minutes without opening the oven door

Once the cabbage pie is done, let it cool slightly in the dish, and then brush the top with butter to prevent the crust from becoming too hard
