Dry yeast

Pressed yeast

Sugar

Salt

1 pinch

Vanilla sugar

Method of preparation

Start by adding the yeast to warm milk, a tablespoon of sugar, and mix everything. Let it sit for 15 minutes

Then add vanilla, the remaining sugar, melted butter. Mix well until the sugar is completely dissolved, and you should have a mixture of medium thickness. Add cognac. Mix

Beat eggs with salt until you get a fluffy foam. Add sifted flour, mix, and let it sit for 20 minutes

Combine both mixtures and knead thoroughly; the dough should not stick to your hands. Form a ball and let it sit for another 30 minutes at room temperature

Grease a baking sheet or a work surface with oil. The final and most important step of the recipe is to roll out the dough to a thickness of no more than one centimeter and cut out classic-sized circles, about 10 centimeters in diameter. Leave them for 15 minutes to let the dough rise

Before serving, place the pastries on a paper towel to remove excess oil. Classic donuts are usually sprinkled with powdered sugar before serving, but you can also try them with jam, condensed milk, or chocolate spread

To give your pastries a sweet cheese flavor, add cheese curds, for example, mozzarella. Don’t use too much – 50 grams should be enough
