Kolasnitt

A real coffee break is a part of Scandinavian traditions. Modern psychology is actively embracing the concept of “lagom” – spiritual minimalism and the ability to live each moment fully. In Denmark and Sweden, where the happiness index is considered the highest in the world, there’s a concept called “fika” – a coffee break. It’s not just a simple “get-together,” but a whole ritual. In the workday, there’s even a designated time at 4:00 PM when everyone leaves their work tasks and takes a 15-minute break to brew tea or coffee and enjoy conversation with sweets. It’s believed that these breaks lead to increased productivity. Swedes love to bring their homemade sweets and pastries to fika. One of the most popular desserts is kolasnitt – cookies with a toffee flavor. Glucose syrup is the key “secret” ingredient of these cookies. Are you ready to immerse yourself in moments of happiness?

Method of preparation

1

Kolasnitt cookies have a pleasant creamy taste. They are slightly firm on the outside and soft and chewy on the inside. To achieve the right texture, follow the preparation steps carefully

2

The butter should be at room temperature, so take it out of the refrigerator for a few hours beforehand. Then mix the butter with the syrup and sugar and beat with a mixer until creamy. You can also add vanilla at this stage

3

Sift the flour in advance to remove any impurities and aerate it. Add baking powder and mix. Combine it with the butter mixture to form the dough

4

Roll out the dough, divide it into two logs, and place them on parchment paper for baking. Kolasnitt cookies bake quickly – about 10 minutes at 175 degrees Celsius. Once they are ready, cut them into pieces about 2 cm long and let them cool slightly. Your kolasnitt cookies for “fika” are ready!

Brew a strong black tea with orange and invite your friends to relax. Enjoy your meal! With care for you, UE “Borisovskiy kombinat hleboproduktov”
