Butter with at least 65% fat content

Meat or ground meat

Potato

Spices (black pepper, red pepper, turmeric, parsley, dill)

Method of preparation

To make the dough, mix one egg white with the second egg, leaving the yolk for brushing the finished product. Then add salt, melted butter, and water, mix well, and gradually add the flour. Knead the dough, cover it with plastic wrap, and let it rest for about 25 minutes

Chop the meat, onions, and potatoes into cubes. If you’re using pre-made ground meat for the filling, only chop the vegetables. Add some oil and spices to taste

Take out the dough, divide it into two unequal parts. Spread the larger piece on the bottom of the baking dish, then add the filling on top. If the meat seems dry, add a bit more oil and a couple of tablespoons of water. Now roll out the smaller piece of dough and cover the pie with it, sealing the edges using a braiding or crimping technique

Place the baking dish with the meat pie in a preheated oven and bake for 50-70 minutes at 180 degrees Celsius. After the allotted time, remove the dish from the oven. Your delicious, soft, and juicy meat pie is ready to be served!

To prepare the potato and meat pie, take a large dish in which the dough will rest before you start baking the pie

It’s important to sift the flour beforehand, as this allows it to absorb oxygen, resulting in a lighter pie

Turmeric and parsley work well; they aid digestion

Be sure to make a hole in the center of the pie; this prevents the filling from staying raw. During baking, add a bit of water through the hole to keep the pie moist
