Potato-shaped pastry is a treat familiar to everyone from childhood. It’s such a simple dessert that absolutely anyone can make it. The rich chocolate flavor, delicate vanilla aroma – no one remains indifferent. Potato pastry is a versatile dessert option for any celebration. But where did this recipe come from? It is believed that as early as the early 20th century, such pastries began to be made for the sake of economy: there were often leftovers from pies and cakes, which they came up with using in simpler desserts. The cocoa coating was also not accidental: it was invented to make the pastry look attractive. In the Soviet Union, this pastry became incredibly popular: professional recipes even included recalculating the weight of each ingredient in order to compensate for the output of “potato” during preparation. In the Soviet Union, unlike other countries, fresh products were used rather than spoiled semi-finished products. Over time, adjustments were made to the recipes, and each family had its own special version. We have chosen a universal one: the basis for any interpretation: a sweet, delicious dessert should be enjoyed by everyone, even a child

Ingredients
Vanilla sugar
5 g
Cocoa (hot chocolate is better)
30 g
Biscuit cookies
300 g
Condensed milk
3 tablespoons
Nuts, candied fruits
to your taste
Method of preparation
1
Grind the cookies in a blender or with a rolling pin. It’s ideal to achieve not only a fine grind but also to have a bit of “powder” from the cookies to sprinkle on top of the pastries
2
Pour condensed milk into the mixture, add vanilla sugar, and add cocoa. Choose nuts and candied fruits according to your taste: walnuts, dried orange, and almonds go great with it. Mix the dough thoroughly and shape it into potato-shaped pastries. Some people make them round, while others prefer an elongated shape. Place them on a plate and refrigerate for a couple of hours

The dessert is ready!
Brew a delicious cup of tea, invite your loved ones to the table, and treat them to these delicate chocolate potato-shaped pastries. Enjoy your meal! With care for you, UE “Borisovskiy kombinat hleboproduktov”
